Knowledge Management Practices and Institutional Effectiveness of Public Universities in Rivers State, Nigeria
Abstract
This study examined the influence of knowledge management practices on institutional effectiveness of public universities in Rivers State, Nigeria. Knowledge management has become a strategic necessity for universities seeking sustainable academic and administrative performance in the digital era. Anchored on the Resource-Based Theory, the study explored how knowledge acquisition and knowledge sharing affect institutional effectiveness, measured in terms of service quality and operational adaptability. A descriptive survey design was adopted, and data were collected from academic and administrative staff in selected universities. Results from regression analysis revealed that knowledge management practices significantly predict institutional effectiveness. The study concluded that institutions with systematic knowledge acquisition and sharing frameworks are more effective in achieving organizational goals. It recommended that universities institutionalize structured knowledge management systems to enhance innovation, adaptability, and performance.
