Roles and Challenges of Academic Leaders in Students’ Behavioural Modification for Enhancement of National Cohensiveness

Abstract
The study assessed the roles and challenges of academic leaders in student behavioural modification for the enhancement of national cohesiveness. The investigation was conducted in the University of Abuja. Two research objectives and two questions guided the study. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. This design helped the researcher to sample representatives from the population for the study (Nalepodia 2010). The population of the study consisted of 360 students from the Department of Educational Management of the University (2022-2023 session). The sample consisted of 360 students who were purposively sampled from the Department of Educational Management University of Abuja (these students assessed the academic leaders in the University of Abuja. Questionnaire titled “Roles and Challenges of Academic Leaders in Students Behavioural Modification (RCALSBM)” was the instrument for data collection, using four point rating scale. The validity of the instrument was carried by experts in the Department of Educational Management. The reliability index was obtained through Cronbach alpha yielding an index of 0.78. Data collected were analyzed using the mean statistics. The mean score of 2.50 was a bench mark for decision making. A mean score from 2.50 above was accepted while the mean score of less than 2.50 was disagreed. In the same vein the sectional mean score of above 250 was accepted and below 2.50 was rejected. The researcher found that among others the academic leaders in the University of Abuja played active roles in modifying student’s behavior for national cohesiveness.
