Artificial Intelligence and Pedagogical Tasks Performance of Special Needs Education Teachers
Case Study of Special School Yalwa, Bauchi State, Nigeria

The purpose of this paper was investigates the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the pedagogical practices of special needs education teachers at Special School Yalwa in Bauchi State, Nigeria. The study employed a case study approach to explore the impact of practical applications of Artificial Intelligence technologies in enhancing teachers’ pedagogical practices in a special needs school. In order to achieve the objective of the study, the following critical pedagogical practices were measured: Lesson planning, Grading and assessment, Individualized student support and Classroom management. Purposive and census sampling techniques were used to include all the 31 teachers and the Principal of the school as respondents in the study. The findings were derived from the data gathered through interviews, observations, and surveys with teachers and administrative staff. Thematic and quantitative methods were used to analyse the data obtained. Finally, the study concludes that the more Artificial Intelligence technologies are integrated into education processes, the more pedagogical practices are improved and students learning enhanced. Based on the findings of this study, it was recommended that the Ministry of Education, Bauchi state should provide principals of special schools with funds for effective execution of such prgogrammes as teacher orientation, in-school workshop and in-service education for adoption and integration of Artificial Intelligence technologies in their work environment.
