Recruitment, Selection and Placement in Public Enterprises
A Case Study of University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State
Abstract
This research work covers the recruitment, selection and placement of staff in university of Benin, Benin City, Edo State. The primary aim of this research is to know if proper selection and placement affect recruitment and increase the performance of an employee; the researcher used primary and secondary source of data collection; the primary source contains personal interview, questionnaire and observation while the secondary source include magazine, newspapers, internet, textbooks and journals. The population of this study consists of the entire staff of the University of Benin, Benin City that comprises academic and non-academic senior and junior staff. The sample size is seventy (70) from different department using stratified random sampling. The simple percentage method was used to analyze the questionnaire while the statistical method was used to test the hypothesis. Based on the findings, it was concluded that good recruitment, selection and placement result to the success of business organization, it means that without it, workers will not be able to get good result. University of Benin should give special attention for the acquiring of qualified personnel managers and supervisors who are adequately trained in the field of human resource management.
