Knowledge and Attitude towards Postrate Treatment among Family Men in Owerri Municipal, Imo State
Abstract
This study examined knowledge and attitude towards postrate treatment among family men in Owerri Municipal, Imo State. In line with the above, three research objectives, four research questions and four hypotheses guided the study. In the methodology, survey research design was used and questionnaire served as the instrument of data collection. The data collected were presented in tables and analyzed using simple percentage and chi-square. Based on the data analysis, it was revealed that public knowledge on postrate among men in Owerri Municipal, Imo State is high; there is poor attitude toward postrate screening and treatment among men in Owerri Municipal, Imo State; low sex, low screening, lack of early dictation etc are the major causes of postrate among men in Owerri Municipal, Imo State; and there are major strategies for prevention and treatment of postrate among men in Owerri Municipal, Imo State. This study concluded that government can also encourage screening by making screening free or highly subsidizing its cost hence breaking the barrier to postrate cancer utilization imposed by costs. It was recommended that efforts should focus on the development and testing of interventions to increase informed decision-making. More so, encourage men to have annual checkups with their healthcare providers and to address the cost of screening regarding PCA. It would be practical to target adult men with PCA fatalism beliefs.
