Impact of Work-From-Home Initiative on Performance of Selected Oil Companies in Rivers State, Nigeria
Abstract
This work is on impact of work-from-home initiative on performance of selected oil companies in rivers state, Nigeria. In addition, questionnaire was used to collect data. The population covered 3,233 staff of the organizations under study, from where 356 were selected using Taro Yamane sampling formula. Though, only 340 copies of the questionnaire were returned and used from 356 copies distributed. The data collected were presented in tables and analysed using Simple Percentages, Mean Statistics and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient through SPSS version 21.0. From the SPSS software, this study found that there is significant relationship between work life balance and performance of selected oil companies in rivers state, Nigeria and there is significant relationship between the cost & risk reduction and performance of selected oil companies in rivers state, Nigeria. Here, work from home is a cost saving initiative for both the employer and the employee reduces exposure on the roads and improves staff wellbeing. It was recommended that oil companies should reduce excessive overtime by ensuring proper workforce planning and staff rotation.
